Returning to the AFC title game are the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Sunday night at Highmark Stadium, the Chiefs narrowly defeated the Buffalo Bills 27–24 courtesy to a late Buffalo field goal that was missed. They advance to the conference finals for the sixth consecutive season thanks to the win.
In the most recent game between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, Allen played a flawless back-and-forth, leading the Bills down the field and into scoring position just inside the two-minute warning. Then Tyler Bass went wide right on a 44-yard field goal that would have knotted the score.
The Bills suffered losses in both of their postseason meetings with this team in 2021 and 2022—one in the AFC title game and the other in the divisional round. It didn’t matter in the end that the Bills were the home team and that there was an AFC championship on the line.
The Chiefs aim to make it back to Super Bowl LVIII when they play the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium the following week.
After that, Mahomes and the Chiefs held on to win by three points and guarantee their return to the AFC championship game.
