Tennessee basketball’s loss in the SEC Tournament causes reductions in the AP and Coaches polls.

AP and Coaches polls showed that Tennessee basketball fell in rank after last week’s SEC Tournament loss to Mississippi State.

Following its lopsided defeat to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament last week, Tennessee basketball fell one spot to No. 6 in the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll on Monday afternoon.

The Tennessee Volunteers were included in the Coaches Poll as number six, and Auburn Kentucky South Carolina (16/17), Alabama  and Florida , as one of the five SEC teams placed in the AP Poll.

To maintain their program record, the Volunteers have now been placed inside the AP Top 25 for 58 weeks running.

They have been in the top 10 for 30 of those times, and this is their 14th consecutive week in that position.

Furthermore, Tennessee has been rated 111 times under Rick Barnes in the previous seven seasons. Before Barnes became the head coach, UT had been ranked 74 times in the previous 14 years.

against Sunday night, Tennessee was awarded the second seed in the Midwest Region of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. This coming Thursday, they will take against Saint Peter’s, the 15th-seeded team, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Allie LaForce, Jim Jackson, and Brian Anderson will be on the call at 9:20 p.m. ET on TNT for the tipoff.
