The top defenceman for the Toronto Maple Leafs may miss some time due to a risky behavior.
The NHL Department of Player Safety declared on Sunday that Morgan Rielly will face an in-person hearing for cross-checking forward Ridly Greig of the Ottawa Senators.
Rielly may face a five-game or longer suspension.
The incident occurred in the last few seconds of regulation during the Battle of Ontario on Saturday night. Having fallen behind 4-3, Greig had an opportunity to put the Maple Leafs ahead.
The 21-year-old made the decision to finish strong and launch the puck into the vacant cage.
