DETROIT (AP) — Tuesday night’s 6-0 victory over the Twins by the Detroit Tigers snapped Minnesota’s five-game winning streak thanks to seven strong innings from Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez (8-5) gave up four hits, all of which were singles, five strikeouts, and three walks.
After almost being sold to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline, the seasoned left-hander improved to 4-1 with a 3.63 ERA in his previous seven starts.
Miguel Cabrera, the slugger for the Tigers, went 2 for 4 and scored a run.
With 3,142 hits, he has moved into a tie with Robin Yount for 19th place on the lifetime list, surpassing Tony Gwynn.
Sonny Gray (5-5) of the Twins, the ace, struck out 10 in six innings.
Three runs, two of which were earned, and seven hits were attributed to him.
Detroit acquired.
