Men’s Basketball Overcomes Early Adversity to Win UNE University of New England.

Milton, Massachusetts – On Tuesday, the Curry Colonels overcame a sluggish start to overcome the University of New England Nor’Easters, winning 89-83 in the end.

With the victory, UNE is currently 0-14 and 5-17, while the Colonels are presently 11-11 overall and 6-7 in CCC play.

The Colonels’ hopes were dashed as they were outscored 19-2 in the first seven minutes of the game. Nevertheless, the Colonels persisted, and they briefly led 33-32 thanks to a 20-5 run.

However, the Nor’Easters would score the next four points to close out the half, leading 37–33 at the break.

With 24 points, Jason Romans led the Colonels in scoring. Along with Nick Johnson (14), Favour Okeke (10), and Carl Monplaisir (17), he was one of Curry’s four double-digit scorers. Lowelle Torres and Monplaisir each had nine rebounds. With four assists apiece, Romans and Jonathan Joel were the team leaders. A number of men made defensive contributions. Tommy Mallinson finished with two blocks and two thefts, while Mustafo Vanjov and Shawn Charles both had three blocks.

Next Up: The Colonels return to action on Saturday at Hartford at 3 p.m.
