Seven years have passed since the music industry lost Prince, and this past weekend saw the famous Paisley Park honor the superstar with its annual Celebration.
Unreleased songs from the Prince vault were played at the star-studded seventh annual event, which also included special appearances and talks with Chaka Khan, Chuck D, D-Nice, and Doug E. Fresh.
D-Nice, DJ Rashida, R&B singer Stokley of Mint Condition, Minnesota gospel groups Sounds of Blackness and The Steeles, members of Prince’s band NPG, and Prince’s backup vocalist were among those who performed.
Two previously unheard tracks from the Prince vault, “All A Share Together Now,” recorded on September 4, 2006, and “7 (E Flat Version),” recorded on August 9, 1992, were given to attendees in the form of unique cassette-shaped USB keys. On July 7, both songs will be released globally.
L. Londell McMillan, Prince’s former manager, friend, and attorney, thanked everyone who helped make Prince Celebration 2023 a historic occasion in a press release following the event. On the seventh anniversary of Prince’s passage, we honored and celebrated him in his home among many of his loved ones. We will always mourn him.
All of the events, food, fellowship, music, and talks were done in love and gratitude in honor of Prince. Prince Celebration is something we’re excited about.
Prince lived and worked in Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Following his passing in 2016, the park was transformed into a museum, performance hall, and tourist attraction with guided tours available.
