On Wednesday, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will hear an appeal from Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly over his five-game ban.
Shortly before Tuesday’s 4-1 Toronto victory against the St. Louis Blues at Scotiabank Arena got underway, Rielly received his sentencing.
The Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving was scheduled to address the ban at a media conference on Wednesday afternoon; however, the team has canceled his appearance.
Rielly’s sole chance to get his punishment lowered was to appeal to Bettman because it was less than six games. The NHLPA is responsible for submitting the
